KAUNAS, Lithuania — On January 31, the Kaunas Symphony Orchestra performed at the Kaunas Philharmonic Hall under the direction of conductor Konstantin Orbelian. The concert program included George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue,” with soloist Dinara Clinton, excerpts from Leonard Bernstein’s “West Side Story” performed by Tatev Baroyan and Tomas Pavilionis, as well as works by Armenian composer Konstantin Petrossian:
“The Mother of God” and “Vocalize,” both performed by Tatev Baroyan. These pieces were warmly received by the audience in Kaunas.
Orbelian is one of the most sought-after conductors of our time, having launched the careers of many opera stars such as Dmitri Hvorostovsky, Renée Fleming, Sondra Radvanovsky and Jonas Kaufmann.
Baroyan is one of the rising stars who proudly represents Armenia on opera stages in Salzburg, New York, Boston, Providence, Sarasota, and elsewhere. She is a soloist at the Metropolitan Opera and a winner of numerous prestigious competitions.
