MILAN (ANM Media) — Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, a 28-year-old violinist and conductor, has been named the new music director of the Milan Symphony Orchestra, the Armenian Embassy in Italy reported.
Tjeknavorian’s career as a violinist has brought him to many of the world’s most important concert halls. As he now extends his career with a complete focus on conducting, he is a guest this season of the Graz Philharmonic, the Tonkünstler Orchestra, the Württembergisches Kammerorchester Heilbronn and the Bruckner Orchestra Linz, among others.In 2023, he opened the season of the Philharmonic Orchestra at La Scala with Italian conductor Riccardo Chailly.
Tjeknavorian is the son of Loris Tjeknavorian, an Iranian-Armenian composer and conductor.
He is scheduled to be officially introduced on January 25 at the Milan Auditorium.
