LOS ANGELES — At 5 years old, Los Angeles based pianist Alec Van Khajadourian, known for his extraordinary musical ability and perfect pitch, grabbed the attention of media around the world when he made history as the youngest musician to perform at Carnegie Hall. At 6, he became a composer.
On August 21, the now 6-year-old Alec enters a new musical chapter with the release of “6,” his sophomore album featuring the world debut of his first original composition. Titled September Trees, the piece is inspired by Alec’s favorite composer, Johann Sebastian Bach, and follows the stylistic formations of the Baroque era modernized and blended into contemporary classical music. Put into perspective, Bach reportedly wrote his first composition at 15 years old. Beethoven was 12.
“I wanted this piece to make you feel the changes in the trees and their beautiful colors in September. The constant movement in the notes does that for me,” said Alec.
Alongside September Trees, and following the concept established by his debut album, “5,” “6” is a classical compilation of works the young artist has performed during the past year for crowds of thousands, and which his social media fan base (IG: @alecvanmusic) has watched him learn and perfect. These include Chopin’s Waltz in A Minor, CPE Bach’s Solfeggietto, and Maykapar’s Raging Torrent, among others.
The album will be available on all major streaming platforms. Sheet music for September Trees will soon be available at www.AlecVan.com, giving musicians an opportunity to play Alec’s first original work.
Alec’s remarkable musical journey has already taken him to some of the world’s most prestigious stages. In 2025, in addition to his Carnegie Hall debut, he also performed at Walt Disney Concert Hall and appeared on “The Today Show,” “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” “Good Day LA” and KTLA’s “Morning Show.”
