CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — The late Elizabeth and Isabel Toomajian, twin sisters and long-time residents of Arlington, were dedicated, devoted and faithful members of Holy Trinity Armenian Church for many decades. In their quiet, unassuming way, they were active participants in the life of the parish.   Elizabeth taught in Holy Trinity’s Sunday School for many years and was loved by all her students. Both sisters volunteered in the Church office with mailings and the Annual Report collation. They continually brought joy, laughter and smiles to everyone who knew them and with whom they worked.   They were pious, generous, kind-hearted human beings who always showed good will toward people.   Both sisters attended Church Services every Sunday, occupying the second pew in the Sanctuary and were often referred to as “the two angels of our Church.”   Isabel worked for a bank while Elizabeth taught Grade 4 in the Arlington public school system.   Daughters of the late John and Aghavni (Muckjian) Toomajian, Elizabeth passed away in 2005 and Isabel in 2014.   In their wills, both sisters generously remembered their Church with Elizabeth donating $126,239 to Holy Trinity Armenian Church’s Trust Fund while Isabel bequeathed $405,316.

“Loveable, joyful, dedicated, generous. This is how I remember Elizabeth and Isabel,” states Fr. Vasken A. Kouzouian, pastor of Holy Trinity Church. “These twin sisters were part of so many events and activities within the life of the Holy Trinity parish. Whether it was teaching in our Sunday School, working at our pastry booth at our annual bazaar, volunteering in the Church Office, or sitting in their regular family pew, these two sisters looked upon our parish as their second home. The purity of their heart belonged to another era. They were examples of what it means to be people of character and integrity. The monumental gift these two beautiful sisters bequeathed Holy Trinity Armenian Church’s Trust Fund will forever leave their footprint on our parish for future generations to appreciate. Elizabeth and Isabel were petite in stature, but they cast a large presence; their gift matches their heart.”

The Holy Trinity Trust Fund is the endowment of Holy Trinity Church and was established with an anonymous gift of $14,000 in l976 to provide income to supplement the annual operating budget of the Church. The Trust Fund has increased over the years helping to provide the parish with needed funds to carry out its ministries and maintain the beautiful Church complex. The Trust Fund is currently made up of 273 named family trust funds, the interest of which provides approximately 30% of the church’s annual operating budget.   Donations to the Trust Fund help secure the future of Holy Trinity Church as a gift to the Trust Fund will support the Church in perpetuity.toomajianelizabethisable4
