Palu’s Armenian St. Illuminator Church to Be Restored

ISTANBUL (Armenpress) — The ancient Holy Illuminator Armenian Church in Turkey’s palu province will be restored according to Agos weekly, which had quoted the municipality and the head of the department for foundations.

At one point more than 5,000 Armenians were living in the region. The five churches and four schools of the province were gradually turned into ruins after the Armenian Genocide. Starting in the 1970s, the church became a target of looters.
