NEW YORK — Every year at Carnegie Hall, the Senior Musicians Association of New York, with more than 3,000 members, sponsors the Senior Concert Orchestra, a free performance at Stern Auditorium, for all to attend.
The orchestra is composed of musicians who are alumni of the New York Philharmonic, the Chicago Symphony and the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra.
During the year, they also hold an annual violin competition, the Waldo Mayo Violin Competition. After selecting the winner, he/she is invited to perform a violin solo with the orchestra, under the direction of conductor David Gilbert. This year’s winner was no other than the talented, young and beautiful Nune Melik.
Melik performed with the Senior Concert Orchestra at Carnegie Hall on Wednesday, September 21.
