Armenia, Iceland FMs Meet in Geneva

GENEVA (Armenpress) — During his working visit to Geneva, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met on February 25 with Iceland’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Katrín Gunnarsdóttir.

According to the Armenian Foreign Ministry, the parties discussed prospects for expanding bilateral political dialogue and cooperation between Armenia and Iceland in various formats and platforms. The meeting also focused on possible upcoming visits.

Mirzoyan emphasized: “The active dynamics of deepening cooperation with the Nordic-Baltic countries testify to the importance we attach to cooperation in this format, and we are ready to make the most of existing opportunities through joint efforts, both in the context of bilateral sectoral cooperation and regional cooperation.”

Mirzoyan briefed Gunnarsdóttir on the efforts being made to deepen the Armenia-EU partnership, emphasizing the importance of exchanging experience with Iceland, as a close partner of the EU, and strengthening capacities in specific areas.

Global and regional developments were also discussed at the meeting.

Mirzoyan presented the security situation in the South Caucasus and Armenia’s efforts to establish sustainable peace.
