YEREVAN (News.am) — Rescue workers on Mount Aragats on March 13 found the body of a Spanish climber, a member of a nine-person expedition team that was trapped under an avalanche on March 11, the Aragatsotn provincial rescue department of the Rescue Service of Armenia reported, adding that all members of this expedition team are Spanish citizens.
“Eight of them have physical injuries, one was trapped under an avalanche. At the moment, the Rescue Service is working. A helicopter was sent to take the injured out from that area, and the ambulance provided the corresponding medical assistance,” the department reported.
The Rescue Service noted that the members of this expedition team had climbed Mount Aragats from the side of Geghadzor village.
The avalanche had occurred on the northern peak of Mount Aragats.
