WELLESLEY, Mass. — The Boston-area Armenian Missionary Association of America (AMAA) Child and Orphan Care Committee celebrated this year’s wine and dine cocktail event, “In the Spirit of Giving,” on Friday, September 26, at the Wellesley Country Club. Host Michele Simourian welcomed AMAA Executive Director Zaven Khanjian, who set the tone for the evening with some words of inspiration. Committee member Joyce Janjigian then introduced celebrity auctioneer and Channel 5 Weathercaster Mike Wankum, whom also named this year as “honorary Armenian.” Music for the evening was provided by the fabulous John Baboian Trio. Guests were all smiles as raffle winners were announced and highest bidders revealed, most appreciative of all the evening’s gracious donors and guests. All proceeds from the event go to benefit AMAA children’s programs in Armenia and Karabagh.

Reflecting on the event, Khanjian said, “An event well planned, well organized, well attended, well groomed, well meant, well understood and well concluded. Kudos to every lovely, motivated and energetic member of the committee.”

Founded in 1918, the AMAA is a non-profit charitable organization whose purpose is to serve the physical and spiritual needs of people everywhere, both at home and overseas without discrimination. For additional information, visit www.amaa.org
