YEREVAN (Armenpress) — Armenian Grand Candy company has set a world record by making the largest bar of chocolate in the world, a feat which will be registered in the Guinness Book of Records.
The chocolate bar weighted 4.410 metric tons (9,702 pounds) and was made in four days. It is 5.6 meters long, 2.75 meters wide and 25 centimeters thick.
The previous record was set in Italy; the Armenian chocolate bar exceeds the latter’s weight by 830 kilograms.
The bittersweet chocolate bar was manufactured using cocoa beans imported from Ghana. The representative of the Guinness Book of World Records Elizabeth Smith, handed to the president of Grand Candy, Karen Vardanyan, a certificate marking the record. “This is the first industrial record in Armenia; it is dedicated to the 10th anniversary of establishment of Grand Candy, which we will mark on October 16,” Vardanyan said, adding that on that day, the chocolate bar will be cut up and given to the revelers celebrating the occasion in Republic Square.
Smith was impressed with the taste.
“I like the chocolate very much. That is why it is a double pleasure for me to register this in the Guinness Book of Records. The working staff of the Guinness Records has claimed that I take several bars of chocolate for tasting. I have already tasted it and I liked it very much,” she said.
