LUXEMBOURG CITY, Luxembourg – Armenia’s FC Ararat-Armenia lost to Luxembourg’s champion Dudelange in a tough match on August 29 at the Josy Barthel Stadium of Luxembourg. At the 24th minute, Mailson Lima of Armenia’s club scored the first goal (see the video below) bringing the aggregate score to 3:1 as the Armenian club defeated Luxembourg’s champion last week in Yerevan by 2:1. The club, owned by Russia-based billionaire Samvel Karapetyan, who flew to Luxembourg to be present at historic game, for about 25 minutes continued to lead with two scores – nearing a historic victory.

However, the European team was able to retake the initiative. At the 48th and 71st minutes of the game, Luxembourg scored two goals and leveled the aggregate score. The additional time did not bring any change. The final penalty series, though starting with Ararat-Armenia’s success, eventually had an unfortunate outcome for the Yerevan club. The Armenian club lost the penalty shootout 4-5.
