Aronian Is Ranked 7th by FIDE

AronianATHENS (Armenpress) — The World Chess Federation (FIDE) has published the rankings of March 2016. The leader of the Armenian national chess team, Levon Aronian, has dropped to seventh place with 2786 points.

Previously he was ranked fourth.

The ranking top world champion Magnus Carlsen has 2851 points, Vladimir Kramkin is in second place with 2801 points, and Fabiano Caruana is in third, with 2794 points.

Among the list of top players is Grandmaster Gabriel Sargsyan, who is ranked 42nd with 2702 points. Vladimir Hakobyan is ranked 95th with 2656 points. Sergey Movsisyan and Hrant Movsisyan share the 100th to 102nd places at an equal ranking with Norwegian Loek van Wely, as each has 2653 points.

Member of the Armenian National Team Elina Danielyan is ranked 44th with 2445 points among women’s rankings.

Lilit Mkrtchyan is ranked 49th with 2434 points.
