PARIS — On March 12, approximately 2,000 people demonstrated in front of the French Senate to demand that the bill criminalizing denial of genocide is adopted by the senators. The law had been adopted by National Assembly on October 12, 2006.

In an interview with Nouvelles d’Armenie, Charles Aznavour said he regrets that Presidents Barack Obama and Nicolas Sarkozy did not keep their promises. Obama has not yet used the word “genocide,” and Sarkozy has not supported the bill criminalizing the denial of the Armenian Genocide as he promised before his election on 2007.

After his election on May 2007, Sarkozy assured Turkey that the Armenian bill “died in the Senate,” Wikileaks has revealed. (Jean Eckian)
