WASHINGTON — On September 16, Bishop Mesrop Parsamyan joined fellow Armenian Christian leaders for a historic meeting with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office of the White House.
Organized through the initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia to the United States, in cooperation with the White House Faith Office, the meeting brought together leaders of the Armenian Apostolic, Catholic, and Evangelical communities in America, along with Armenia’s Ambassador to the U.S., Amb. Narek Mkrtchyan. Paula White-Cain and Jennifer Korn of the White House Faith Office also participated.
The conversation focused on the Christian and civilizational bonds shared by Armenia and America, religious freedom, Armenia’s unique heritage as the first nation to embrace Christianity, and the importance of faith and spiritual values in fostering peace and mutual understanding.
Together, the Armenian religious leaders offered a prayer for God’s blessing upon the people of Armenia and the United States, for the friendship between the two nations, and for continuing efforts toward peace and stability.
Joining Bishop Mesrop were Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Archbishop Anoushavan Tanielian, Archbishop Gegham Khacherian, Bishop Mikael Mouradian and Rev. Henrik Shahnazarian.
“The gathering was a meaningful opportunity for Armenian Christian leaders to bear witness to our shared faith and to lift up in prayer the peoples of Armenia and the United States, their friendship, and the hope for a lasting peace,” Parsamyan said, reflecting on the meeting.
