YEREVAN (Armenpress) —   The Parliamentary Committee on State-Legal Affairs has approved the bill on amending the Criminal Code to make animal abuse a crime in Armenia.

“There is no significant difference between a potential murderer and someone who deliberately tortures, abuses and destroys animals,” opposition MP Naira Zohrabyan, a co-author of the bill, told lawmakers at the committee, said on September 3.

The proposed regulations will enable to protect animals from torture, cruel treatment, and will maximally prevent such actions against animals.
