SANTA ROSA, Calif. — Anahit Babajanian was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and teacher whose life was defined by faith, kindness, generosity and devotion to family.

Born in Qoruq village, Gorgan, Iran, Anahit grew up deeply connected to her Armenian heritage and Christian faith. After her mother, Knar, died when she was six months old, she was raised by her devoted aunts, Aghavani and Gohar, and her father, Tigran Lusparian, whose family fled the Ottoman Empire during the Armenian Genocide and later immigrated to Iran during the Bolshevik Revolution.

In Armenia, Anahit met Dr. Ishkhan Babajanian, her husband and lifelong partner of more than 55 years. They married in Yerevan on December 13, 1970, and welcomed their first son, Dr. Masis Babajanian, in 1971. In 1975, they left Soviet Armenia for Italy before settling in the United States in pursuit of freedom. Their second son, Armen Babajanian, was born that December. Anahit served others as a teacher and nurse while building a loving home.

Guided by deep faith, Anahit treated everyone with warmth and compassion, answering even unkindness with generosity. An exceptional Armenian and Persian cook and gracious host, she expressed her love through food and hospitality. She also enjoyed sewing and gardening.

Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren, Gohar, Vartan and Davit. She cherished her sons, daughters-in-law Anna Babajanian and Maddy Dillon, and the traditions and love they shared.

Anahit passed away in Santa Rosa, California, on October 9, 2026, exactly nine years after the Tubbs fire destroyed her family’s home and belongings.
