LOS ANGELES — A raunchy buddy movie, directed by and starring Constantine Paraskevopoulos, titled “BFFs,” is now available to stream on the free platform Tubi. The film is written by veteran filmmaker Adam Rifkin, who also co-stars alongside Constantine as the childhood friend, Henry.

There are a whole host of noted stars in the film, including System of a Down’s Shavo Odadjian, Taye Diggs, Terrence Howard, Jennifer Morrison, Kane Hodder, Nick Stahl and Amaury Nolasco.

The story follows a chaotic reunion when Jerry Klugman (played by Paraskevopoulos) returns to reconnect with his childhood best friend, Henry Hartman. Of course, mayhem ensues.

The film is produced by Ammni Studios and Digital Ignition Entertainment, with Wu-Tang Clan member RZA serving as a producer.

In a recent interview, Paraskevopoulos explained the film as “a raunchy buddy comedy in the spirit of the ‘80s and ‘90s classics — the kind Hollywood stopped making. Two childhood best friends reunite and their prank war escalates until everything spirals out of control.”

“Jerry (me) reconnects with his old best friend Henry (Adam Rifkin), who’s stuck in a dead-end marriage and a soul-crushing job. Jerry’s mission is to reignite his best friend’s spark — but the pranks go too far, and chaos comes from every direction. The leads represent relationships that have hit that rough spot, and that’s always fascinated me. Movies always let you know what happens when it’s over, or they spend the whole film building up to the spark of something — but what about the messy middle, the in-between? That’s what we were exploring,” Paraskevopoulos explained. “It’s amazing how people who would’ve literally jumped in front of a train to save the other person’s life can sour so quickly — eighteen months after being in love, people hire divorce attorneys, spend $200,000 on custody battles, and try to destroy each other’s lives.”

Paraskevopoulos said he has spent his entire career in films, and is currently the showrunner for an Icelandic series called “Fjord.”

As for how he met and persuaded Odadjian to pop up in the film, he said, “Shavo and I hit it off early — I love all my Armenian brothers. When I moved to Los Angeles, RZA introduced us. RZA came on as a producer of this film, and the three of us have been friends for many, many years. When I asked him to do the cameo, I thought he was perfect for it — he looks like the biggest badass you’d ever see in a jail cell, so I thought it was funny that this absurd character Jerry I play would somehow be friendly with the toughest-looking guy in the jail. It’s kind of amazing to me, and it shows what kind of person he is — that on a super low-budget film, he would show up and be such a champion, willing to do a super fun cameo. I love him completely. He’s the man. And there’s a little treat with Shavo at the very, very end of the movie — but you have to get all the way to the end for it.”

The film is free on Tubi now.

He concluded, “And as a Greek-American, I’ve always felt a real kinship with the Armenian community, so having Shavo in the film means a lot personally.”
