YEREVAN (OC-Media) — Mobile Centre, an Armenian company involved in the import and re-export of phones and other electronics — mostly to Russia — has been ranked as Armenia’s top taxpayer in the first three quarters of 2026, according to a list compiled by Armenia’s State Revenue Committee (SRC) of the top 1,000 taxpayers.

In 2021, according to SRC, Mobile Centre was 42nd on the top 1000 taxpayers list and paid ֏4.4 billion ($12 million). Since 2022, the company jumped up to the top of the taxpayers list, increasing its paid taxes almost 18 times by the end of 2025, ֏77.8 billion ($215 million). By the end of September 2026, the company maintained its top position, paying ֏64.3 billion ($178 million).

Following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022 and subsequent Western sanctions, Russia has used former Soviet countries to circumvent the sanctions — importing goods to un-sanctioned countries, and then shipping those goods on to Russia. Telephone and other electronic communication devices dominated Armenia-Russa exports last year.

Overall 2025 exports to Russia were around $2.9 billion: accounting for approximately 35% of all exports, The most valuable items were re-exported goods, such as mobile phones ($789 million), TVs ($100 in the first half of 2025), and computers.

Mobile Centre is an official distributor of smartphones from some of the world’s leading manufacturers, including Xiaomi, Apple, and Samsung. The company also sells computers and other electronic items. According to the Statistical Committee of Armenia, although Russian-Armenian trade shrank by around 50% to $6.7 billion between January and November 2025, Russia still accounted for 35.5% of Armenia’s total foreign trade.
