STEPANAKERT (president.nkr.am) — On February 23, a government meeting was held under the leadership of Artsakh Republic President Arayik Harutyunyan.

The head of state presented the military-political and socio-economic situation that has developed in the republic as a result of the blockade of Artsakh by Azerbaijan, as well as the measures taken by the authorities to solve emerging problems. At the government meeting, President Harutyunyan also issued a decree on the dismissal of Ruben Vardanyan from the post of state minister. He praised Vardanyan’s efforts in raising international awareness of Artsakh and solving many internal problems during the blockade.

“All this time, Ruben Vardanyan and I have been together, daily monitoring the events taking place both in Artsakh and in the outside world, constantly exchanging ideas about solutions to the current situation. I am grateful to Mr. Vardanyan for always trying to share responsibility with me as much as possible both in friendly and collegiate relations, and did not try to shift it onto me, referring to the constitutional norms. But, on the other hand, he was aware and understood the scale and degree of my personal responsibility for the situation in Artsakh and further problems,” the head of state stressed.

Harutyunyan noted that he offered the position of the state minister to Prosecutor General of the Republic Gurgen Nersisyan, taking into account his professional and human qualities, professionalism, impartiality, adherence to principles and patriotism shown in his work.

The president said that the sphere of coordination of the new state minister will include all executive authorities, except for law enforcement agencies and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
