WATERTOWN — The Arsenal Center for the Arts has established the annual Charles Mosesian Award for Support of the Arts, while it is celebrating the center’s fifth anniversary.
The inaugural award and presentation will be made to longtime arts and entertainment critic, Joyce Kulhawik. John Airasian, owner, Eastern Clothing Company. Mosesian’s daughters, Elaine Mosesian and Charleen Onanian, will make the presentation. The Mosesian Award recognizes individuals or organizations who exemplify his commitment to the arts, artists and the Arsenal Center for the Arts.
A founding member of the Arsenal Center’s Board of Directors and longtime friend of Mosesian’s, Airasian comments: “As we celebrate the wonderful success of the Center on the occasion of its fifth anniversary, it is only appropriate that we once again recall, acknowledge and celebrate Charlie Mosesian’s remarkable gift to the community and that we honor his memory by announcing the creation of this award in his name.”
Airasian recalls the pivotal role Mosesian played in helping to launch the Arsenal Center for the Arts.
“It was just over 10 years ago that I reached out to the local business community with little more than an idea and a blue print for building an Arts Center in Watertown. Charlie Mosesian quickly stepped forward to lend his support, making a remarkable $1-million gift that helped launch our building campaign. It was Charlie’s leadership that made the difference, inspiring others in Watertown and the surrounding area to lend their support and create the wonderful community of arts and artists we now call the Arsenal Center for the Arts.
