“The Great & Holy Week: The Easter Story Through Armenian Sacred Art” St. John Armenian Church to Open an Exhibition of Armenian Icons

SOUTHFIELD, MI — St. John Armenian Church and its Fine Arts Committee will open a special exhibition exploring the drama and meaning of Holy Week and Easter through Armenian sacred art, featuring icons painted by Rev. Fr. Garabed Kochakian, on Friday, March 13, 2026.
Titled “The Great & Holy Week: The Easter Story Through Armenian Sacred Art,” the evening will begin with a welcome at 6:00 p.m. in the Church Cultural Hall, led by Fr. Aren Jebejian. At 6:30 p.m., Fr. Garabed will offer a presentation introducing the exhibit’s artistic and spiritual themes. At 7:00 p.m., guests will proceed to the St. Vartan Room for the formal opening of the icon exhibition, including a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by His Grace Bishop Mesrop Parsamyan, Primate. Fr. Garabed will also introduce Armenian iconography in the context of worship and teaching.
Hospitality will be provided in the Ararat Room (across from the exhibits). RSVP is requested by March 9, 2026.
