7 Roles available:
[LUSINE] Legal 18 to play 17 years old, Armenian, or can play the role of a South Asian or Eastern European female. Lusine has two big secrets she is keeping from her traditional Armenian family, which she doesn’t yet know how to handle. Her unstylish, baggy clothing may serve both a practical and a subliminal purpose for her, as she tries to avoid things. At a family gathering though, she’s pushed to react to her worst fears. LEAD.
[GARNIK] 20 to 30 years old, Armenian, or can play the role of a South Asian or Eastern European male. Lusine’s popular brother, he has a thin build, heavy Armenian accent, very aggressive, macho and proud. His knee-jerk violent reaction to learning about one of Lusine’s secrets may be part of what propels her to her desperate act. MAIN ROLE.
[SAKO] 25 to 30 years old, Armenian, or can play the role of a South Asian or Eastern European male. Handsome and very wealthy, he is very proud, balanced and fast-talking. Unbeknownst to Lusine, he is invited to the house by her parents as a hook-up for her, he’s a real catch they are avidly trying to make. MAIN ROLE.
[FATHER] 45 to 55 years old, Armenian male. MUST SPEAK ARMENIAN. Very caring and sensitive, Lusine’s father has traditional Armenian beliefs on the roles for his family members. When challenged, though, he will definitively choose his beliefs over sensitivity. MAIN ROLE.
[MOTHER] 45 to 55 years old, Armenian, or can play the role of a South Asian or Eastern European female. Light accent, will have minimal dialogue in Armenian to learn. She loves her daughter Lusine, but does not really know her, except to know that she must trick her daughter if she is to get her to marry an Armenian man. The mother has had numerous plastic surgeries. MAIN ROLE.
[RUZAN] Mid 40s to mid 50s years old, can play the role of an Armenian. One short speech in Armenian. Sako’s mom, she wears heavy makeup, and spiritedly makes a toast for her son and Lusine. SUPPORTING ROLE.
[GRANDMA] 70 to 80 years old, can play the role of an Armenian or Eastern European female. She lives with Lusine’s family, and her wrinkled skin and trembling hands reveal her fragile state. It seems like Lusine is the only one who notices her. THIS IS A NON-SPEAKING SUPPORTING PRINCIPAL ROLE.
