Join Mark Arslan live on Zoom to talk about Armenian genealogy and the online Armenian Immigration Project he has created to help Armenians research their ancestral families. His databases document immigration of Armenians to the USA and Canada in the years up to about 1930. It consists of abstracts of American primary sources (documentary evidence from ship manifests, censuses, military draft registrations, naturalization and passport applications, vital records – births, marriages, and deaths, and missing persons ads from Armenian language newspapers). All of this information is available for free in searchable database. This is a treasure trove of valuable information.
We are collecting some basic information about participants and how your ancestors came to the US, please click here to answer four quick questions. We’ll do a live demo, showing how you can use this database to find out more about your Armenian relatives who came to America in those early years. After the formal presentation, you will have an opportunity for some Q&A and free-form discussion.
