Armenian Documentaries Airing on Maryland Public Television

August 17, 2021 @ 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm

Free

A documentary double feature covering Armenian-Americans’ struggles grappling with intergenerational trauma and cultural identity a century after genocide airs in the Maryland and D.C. area on Maryland Public Television (MPT) on Tuesday, August 17 starting at 8:00 p.m. ET. The first film, “100 Years from Home,” follows one woman’s search for the house her ancestors were forced to abandon during the Armenian Genocide a century ago, and the weight of Turkey’s subsequent denial. “What Will Become of Us,” airing directly after, explores the lasting impact on the descendants of survivors living in the diaspora. These issues have been thrust back into the headlines in light of the recent war that broke out between Azerbaijan and the Armenians of Artsakh at the end of 2020, and by the recent historic recognition of the genocide by the White House in April.
