Hagop Vartivarian is president of Vartivarian Trading Corp., an international textile trading company. A graduate of Haigazian College and Yervant Hussissian Armenian Studies Academy in Beirut, he is the author of several books, including the multivolume Travelers on the Path of the Great Dream and Comprehensive History of the Armenian Democratic Liberal Party (in Armenian). He is a regular contributor of editorials, interviews and articles to the Mirror-Spectator and other Armenian periodicals in the diaspora, as well as in Armenia.
Past president of the Armenian Democratic Liberal Party Press Central Committee, past secretary of the party's Central Committee, and secretary of the Board of Directors of the Tekeyan Cultural Association (TCA) of the United States and Canada, he is honorary chairman of the TCA Greater New York Chapter and founder of the TCA Megerdchian Theatrical Group, as well as founding member of the World Armenian Congress, Moscow, and member of its General Council. Publisher of Angakhutiun newspaper, he established press awards for the ADL newspapers Zartonk (Beirut), Nor Or (Los Angeles) and Azg (Yerevan).
Patron of about twenty published books for Armenian authors, he is a proponent of the Armenian language and cultural heritage in the diaspora. Life member of the Armenian General Benevolent Union and member of the Armenian Assembly of America, he was awarded the Movses Khorenatsi metal from President Serzh Sargsyan and the St. Sahag-St. Mesrob metal from Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II. He is the father of Haig, and lives in Englewood, NJ with his wife Maria.
