This project aims to map the Armenian genome to determine the most prevalent medical disorders found in Armenians. Furthermore, a screening test for those genetic conditions, such as hearing and vision loss, and cancer in adults, will be developed.
Due to this pioneering work and novel research findings, the project must continue by increasing the sample size from Armenia and expanding the study to include Armenians from the Diaspora. Therefore, to meet our goals, the Armenian International Medical Fund is holding its first gala dinner for the UCLA-ArmGenia project on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at the Vertigo Event Venue in Glendale, California.
