PARIS (armenews) — The second round of the legislative election on June 18, which elected the deputies of the National Assembly (Parliament) for 5 year terms, ended with a clear victory of President Emmanuel Macron’s En Marche party, which garnered more than 49 percent of the votes.
Four Armenians were elected to the parliament. They are: Danièle Cazarian, Guillaume Kasbarian, Jacques Marilossian and Nadia Essayan.
One French-Armenian candidate, Pascal Chamassian, lost. He suffered from his party’s performance in a region where the right and extreme right are particularly well established.
He was defeated by Valerie Boyer, whose name is associated with the struggle against Holocaust and Armenian Genocide denial.
