WASHINGTON — On Tuesday February 7, the Armenian Embassy organized a reception in honor the 25th anniversary of the formation of the Armenian Army.

Present were military attaches of foreign embassies accredited in Washington, representatives of Armenian organizations, including Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU) President Berge Setrakian, Armenian Assembly Director Bryan Ardouny, ADL District Committee member Kevork Marashlian, Diocesan Legate Archbishop Vicken Aykazian.

Ambassador Grigor Hovhannisian welcomed those present and said that in Armenia the Army is one of the entities whose anniversary is celebrated every year, because the country went from a simple army with hunting guns to the actual strong army with sophisticated armament to defend the homeland from neighboring countries. Then, Colonel Denis Khachadourov, Military attaché at the Embassy, gave an illustration of the formation of the Armenian army from its initial partisan mode to the actual organized and strong army.
