Five Armenian-American Students Participate in Northeastern Senior District Program

LOWELL, Mass. — On Saturday, January 10, 2015, 443 selected music students from the Northeastern Senior District schools performed at the Massachusetts Music Educators Association’s 57th Annual Concert at Lowell High School after only three rehearsals in two days and the day of the concert.

It was a grueling ordeal to be selected to play at this prestigious concert by audition on November 15, 2014, at North Andover High School.

Five Armenian students were among these select group of musicians and they were: Mary Galstian, Soprano Belmont high School; Tenny Gregorian, Soprano, Belmont High School; Alex Minasian, Alto, Lexington Christian Academy; Andrew Eurdolian, Oboe, Belmont High School; and Haig Hovsepian, Alto Saxophone, Belmont High School.

The participating schools were: Amesbury HS, Andover HS, Arlington HS, Belmont HS, Belmont Hill School, Beverly HS, Billerica Memorial HS, Burlington HS, Central Catholic HS, Chelmsford HS, Danvers HS, Dracut HS, Everett HS, Georgetown HS, Gloucester HS, Governor’s Academy, Hamilton-Wenham HS, Innovation Academy, Ipswich HS, Lexington Christian Academy, Lexington HS, Lowell HS, Lynn English HS, Lynnfield HS, Manchester Essex HS, Marblehead HS, Masconomet HS, Medford HS, Melrose HS, Methuen HS, Minuteman Reg. Technical HS, Mystic Valley Reg. Charter School, North Andover HS, North Reading HS, Peabody HS, Pentucket Regional HS, Phillips Academy, Pingree School, Reading HS, Rockport HS, Salem HS, Swampscott HS, Triton Regional HS, Wakefield HS, Waring School, Winchester HS.

Furthermore, thirty-two of these students achieved audition scores high enough to earn an All-State recommendation, which gives them the opportunity to audition for the state-wide festival later this winter.
